Believe it or not, this is a picture of an authentic preserved head!

Preserved head of a Maori chief

The head used to belong to a Maori chief. It was a tradition among the Maori to preserve people's heads. When the Europeans came to New Zealand in the 18th century, they took a lot of heads back to Europe as souvernirs.
